GPS / Cell Phone

The GPS unit in a cell phone can be used to track and report its location. Is this ethical? What are the pros and cons equipping a cell phone with a GPS?

  1. well having a gps in your cell phone is actually extremely helpful because alot of people tend to get lost while driving. a gps will help you find the easiest way to your desired destination. gps can only bring positive points to ones life unless you are a crimial that is trying to hind but is tracked down because of the gps in your phone. besides that point, gps in a cell phone can be helpful in many ways, even to find a missing person if it was really needed.

  2. using a gps is ethical. As long as it s being used in the right way. For instance it is a valuable tool for people who get lost or have a hard time following directions. However it can be used to follow people or stock people.

  3. allowing a GPS to locate your position is now considered acceptable in today's society. One advantage is that if a disaster was to occur it wouldn't be difficult to get to you. The downside about this technology is that someone will always be able to find you no matter what the circumstances are.

  4. Well having a gps In you cell is a great tool for instance. When your traveling and dont know the area your in,if your lost somewhere youll know the direction to go,or if your just going to point A to B. It wouldnt be good for criminals because the police would know there every move if they were to attemp a crime.

  6. The GPS is an excellent method to go from point A to point B, using advanced technology can help you to find the easiet and short way. one of the problems is the battery loses the power fast.

  7. I think is ethical to have a gps in a cellphone unless you dont authorized it.GPS has great advatages specially if you are driving far from where your leave. Many people get lost especially if you are new to the zone.

  9. Having a Gps On a cell Phone can be helpful. As a single parent of two kids I like the idea of being able to track them down. If lost or being in the wrong place at the wrong time "Officer MOM " can put the lowjack on them. On the other hand it can be an invision of privcy.Every thing created has a pro and con , what matters most is how you choose to use it.

  10. I think that having a gps on the cell phone can be helpful for people that are lost or maybe abducted. It's a great way to find places and people. But on the other hand hand, if a person is stalking a person, it can be a bad think to have.

  11. GPS can be used for tracking and reporting a person's location. I think it is ethical and very handy. For example, parents can easily track where their childrens are. GPS has been proven to catch to criminals and solve kidnapping cases. Many people also see GPS as a disadvantage because it invades privacy. But, I believe there are more pros than cons. Thus, the GPS, in my opinion, is ethical.

  13. GPS unit in a cell phone is very helpful for people with a poor sense of directions. One must consider practicing safety when using this feature. Do not attempt to drive and use it at the same time. I find it useful when I'm in a new city and I need to find the shortest route to arrive at my destination.

  15. On a personal level as an adult, I would like to have this for many safety related reasons. For a younger child I would be certain to have that option. Would not be likely to it if you had something to hide.

  16. I feel that it is ethical, if everyone is law abiding then they shouldn't worry. The pros of gps enabled cell phones would be for parents tracking their children. The cons would be your ex somehow enabling your phone so she can track you.

I would have to say that rather having GPS on a phone is ethical or not depends on how its being used. For example if the police need to find a killer of course it ethical but using it to stalk or keep tabs on humans isn't ethical.
